Christmas Pictures

Daddy December 31st, 2006

Alex had sooooo much fun with his first Christmas experience!  Even though Mommy and Daddy were making him travel all around from place to place, he stayed in a good mood and enjoyed all of the fun and attention he was receiving.

First we went to Grandmother and Granddad Peters house on Christmas Eve.  As you can see, Alex was incredibly excited:

And why shouldn’t he be excited?  He was the center of attention all day, but all of that attention can take a lot out of a boy.

Eventually we were able to get around to the fun stuff and Alex got to open his first present.  He opened the presents like an old pro.  Of course, he was more interested in the paper than what was in the box.

Yep, Alex had a great time celebrating his first Christmas at the Peters’ house.

Christmas Day started out at home with Mommy and Daddy.  Alex had lots of presents to open, but that can be a lot of hard work, so a nap midway through was definitely in order.

After Alex got through all of the presents that Santa brought him at home, we went to Grandma and Grandpa Luckhaupt’s house and opened even more presents (not pictured).  We did take time for a nice family picture though.

After a long day of playing with his all of his cousins, Alex was pooped.  And so, he settled in for a long winter’s nap.

Alex says that this was his best Christmas ever!  We hope you all had a safe and happy Christmas as well!

Merry Christmas, Elf Style!

Alex has done gone and made an elf of himself.  Click this link to check him out!

Once again, Merry Christmas to all!

It’s about time for some pictures

Daddy December 16th, 2006

It’s been a while since we put up some pictures, and as you can tell from the video he has been growing like a weed.  So, I’m cleaning out some of the pictures we’ve got lying around.

Alex has had quite a few visitors over the last month.  Somehow we only managed to get pictures with just a couple of them.  I guess that means the others will have to come back to visit again.  Here he is with his Aunt Jill:

And these three pictures are with Grandma’s brother’s, better known as Alex’s Great Uncles:

When he wasn’t having visitors, Alex was hamming it up for the camera.  We’ve finally found a way to contain him to a manageable space:

Here he is hanging out on the couch with Mommy:

And while hasn’t gotten his picture taken with Santa (yet), he has gotten his picture taken with his Santa hat on:

And finally, nothing says Merry Christmas like a batch of Christmas cookies.  In fact, these cookies say it literally:

Unfortunately, that was the only picture that turned out well from our cookie decorating party, but lots of fun was still had by all!

We want to wish you all a safe and happy holiday season!  Keep tuned here for updates after Christmas as Alex already has a busy week planned.  Plus, he’s getting two teeth right now, so we should hopefully have some updates and pictures on those real soon!

Merry Christmas!
Love,
Alex, Mommy and Daddy

Run Alex, Run

Daddy December 6th, 2006

Wow, I just noticed that it has been nearly a month since we last gave you all an update.  Really, we had planned so much more for the site, but the last few weeks have been quite hectic.  Mommy has been out of town a bit for work and Daddy has been trying to look like he knows what he’s doing when it comes taking care of a baby.  These are all just excuses though, and we really do have a lot of stuff that we want to tell you about.  Hopefully we can post some of it here in the near future.

Today we just want to show you the cool performance that Alex put on for us a couple of weeks ago.  At the time we thought, wow, he’s growing a lot faster than we ever would have expected.  But, it turns out he didn’t know what he was doing and so far this is only instance of any such performance.  That’s probably a good thing, since we’re not quite ready for him to grow up so quickly.  Besides, you have to learn to crawl before you can walk, right?

Enjoy!

Six months old and looky what he can do

Daddy November 10th, 2006

As the days go by, it’s surprising how quickly Alex is growing and learning.  Everyday it seems he has new and exciting experiences that make his mommy and daddy smile from ear to ear.  His favorite thing to do is still sitting around and playing with Mommy and Daddy, but he’s also picking up some other new tricks.  In this picture, he’s reading a magazine with Mommy.

He’s also starting to eat some new foods.  So far, besides the cereal that we told you about a few weeks ago, he’s had prunes (yum), sweet potatoes (yummy), apple sauce (yum-o!), and peas (yuck).  He looks forward to getting to eat the new foods in the evening, but he still wonders when he’s going to get to eat the food that’s on Mommy and Daddy’s plates.   Here he is enjoying some delicious prunes.

But mouths aren’t just for eating.  Mouths also come in very handy when a kid wants to make lots of noise.  Alex is starting to verbalize a lot more and he makes a variety of sounds.  His current favorite sounds are "mumuma," "phblttt," and "hey!"  What’s funny is that he usually says "hey" right when someone new walks into the room.  He’s a very cordial little boy.  But mouths aren’t just for talking either.  As this picture shows, Alex learned one day that if he held a toy in his mouth, it freed up his hands to do other things.  Genius!

While all of these new things are cool, our favorite trick that Alex can do now is sit up by himself.  He’s still mastering the skill, but just this week he started doing it and already he’s learning to play with toys while he sits by himself.  We’re hoping soon that he’ll be able to fold laundry while he sits by himself.  Otherwise, it’s just going to sit in the basket.  Here’s some video of Alex doing his new trick.
