Snow Baby

Mommy February 6th, 2007

Mommy got to come home from work early today because of the snow, so she thought she should take Alex out to show him what it was all about.

Here we are before:

During:

And after our little outing:

Mommy must have looked funny carrying Alex down the middle of the street in blustery snow, because one lady peeked her head out of her door to ask if we were ok!  We were fine, Mommy’s just a little crazy!

P.S. How about those Indianapolis Colts? :)

Dancing Alex, without the elf costume

Daddy January 28th, 2007

Whenever you are down and you need a pick me up, just do what Alex does and dance, Dance, DANCE!

Alex loves to stand now. He gets quite upset at times when we won’t help him get up.  We keep telling him that he needs to learn to crawl before he can walk.  He tells us not to waste our time with such old, tired clichés.  He’s not even talking yet and already he’s smarting off to his parents.  Usually when he gets up into the standing position, he looks a lot like Elvis, or at least a young Forrest Gump teaching Elvis how to dance.

He’s also trying to walk a lot now.  He’s working his way around furniture slowly, and invariably the second you take your hand out of catching mode, he falls to the ground.  But if he isn’t willing to crawl first, then he’s going to have to take his lumps going the hard way.

One other note about the video, you’ll notice that Alex’s ultra-hip mom is already teaching the young lad some classic 70s disco tunes.  It won’t be long before he’s wearing white leisure suits and strutting down the street like John Travolta.

Mommy left us… but she came home!

Alex January 21st, 2007

One of Mommy’s New Year’s resolutions was to fulfill her field investigation requirement for her EIS (Epidemic Intelligence Service – whatever that means) job.  So, when she went back to work January 3 she e-mailed her EIS director and let him know that she was interested in going on a field investigation "some time."   Guess what!  Two hours later  he called and asked if she was available to leave for a field investigation in Rhode Island the next day.  She wasn’t expecting such a quick response, but she couldn’t turn down something she had just asked for, so  she left for Rhode Island on January 4.

I missed her a lot, but Daddy & I had fun…

I got 2 new teeth- that was lots of fun for Daddy!

Daddy made me do tricks, like balancing toys on my head, which I guess was sort of fun,

And we watched the OSU game, but I guess that wasn’t really fun…

Finally, Mommy came home on Friday (January 19), and we got back to doing our favorite thing together!

Mommy says she’ll try to stay home for awhile now. Yay!  (That was from me and Daddy)

What I Did Over Christmas Vacation- by Alex Luckhaupt

Alex January 21st, 2007

Mommy and Daddy both took a whole week of vacation after Christmas to play with me, and I got to visit old friends and make some new ones!  First, I saw my old buddy Tyler.  He might be more than a year older than me, but he’s still not much bigger than me!  Aren’t we cute in our jammies?

Then I got to see Ella.  We met before, back when we were little, but we’ve both matured a lot since then.  Like Charlie Brown, I think I have a thing for little red-headed girls!  My daddy and Ella’s daddy, "Barney", were fraternity brothers together.  I’m not sure what that means, but Mommy says that she never pictured the two of them swapping stories about their babies back when they were at Sigma Nu.

Finally, I got to meet Daddy’s friend Phil’s daughter, Isa.  For once I wasn’t the youngest.  Poor baby Isa, she doesn’t even know how to sit up yet, but I told her not to worry, she’ll get there soon enough!

Don’t tell Mommy & Daddy, but I was kind of glad they had to go back to work so we could stop driving around so much!

Happy New Year!

Daddy January 1st, 2007

Baby New Year wishes the best to you all!

Yes, Mommy had a glass of wine before deciding to make the hat.
